A few months ago, we learnt that HBO will be making a documentary, Stolen Daughters: Kidnapped By Boko Haram about the 2014 kidnapping of 276 girls from a school in Chibok by the militant group, Boko Haram.
Now, they have finally released a moving trailer for the documentary, giving us more insight into what we should expect.
Following the global social media campaign with the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls, which involved global icons like Malala and Michelle Obama, there has been a lot of pressure on the Nigerian Government to get the girls back. It has been four years since these girls were kidnapped, and one year since 82 of them were released.
HBO’s Stolen Daughters: Kidnapped by Boko Haram tells the story of the girls’ time in captivity, following their lives over the past year. It also chronicles the young women’s experiences following their return, including reunions with family members, as well as the process of coming to terms with what happened to them.
The documentary will air on October 22 on HBO, and will be available to watch on all their on-demand streaming platforms.
